About the project
Less traffic on Quay Street will mean we can bring together different modes of transport, and improve connections between buses, trains and ferries.
New bus interchanges at Britomart East and Lower Albert Street will make transferring between buses, trains and ferries easier, as well as acting as a gateway to the city centre.
This project is a part of the Downtown Programme. For more information, see the Auckland Transport Downtown Programme page.
The bus interchange at Lower Albert Street, serving northern and western bus services, will be upgraded in partnership with the City Rail Link.
Options for the bus interchange at Britomart East, serving eastern and southern bus services, are still being investigated.
This project is currently in the design and planning stage.
Construction is estimated to run from late 2019 to late 2020.
