About the project
Cruise ships make an important contribution to our economy, bringing more than $130 million a year to Auckland and the surrounding region.
We will add a mooring structure to the end of Queens Wharf that will allow newer and larger ships to dock in central Auckland.
This project is a part of the Downtown Programme. For more information, see the Auckland Transport Downtown Programme page.
The structure will extend 90m from the end of Queens Wharf, and will be connected to the wharf by a gangway.
This project is currently in the design and planning stage.
Construction is estimated to run from early 2019 to early 2020.
