Kaipātiki Local Board public and business meetings

Monthly business meetings

Kaipātiki Local Board makes decisions at its monthly business meetings.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the Kaipātiki Local Board meetings, either:

  • in person
  • virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Contact the local board office at KaipatikiLocalBoard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz to request a virtual link to any of our meetings.

View recordings of past business meetings.

The local board is responsible for:

  • local council services and facilities (parks, libraries and leisure centres)
  • listening to your views on issues of regional significance (transport, rates, or  planning) and advocating to the Governing Body on these issues.

When and where they are held

These meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of every month and are open to the public.

They start at 10am and are held at:

Kaipātiki Local Board office, 90 Bentley Avenue, Glenfield.

Check the Kaipātiki Local Board meetings calendar for more details.

Speak at a monthly business meeting

We set aside time for members of the public to speak to the board at our monthly business meetings.

The board allocates 30 minutes for the public to speak to elected members. Each speaker has three minutes.

The other option is to speak through a deputation. This is a formal presentation requiring seven days' notice and the chairperson's approval.

Deputations are given 10 minutes to speak, including time for the board members to ask questions.

You can read our upcoming meeting agendas to find out what is coming up.

Contact KaipatikiLocalBoard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz in advance to arrange to speak.

See Speak at a local board meeting for more information.

Community forums

Community forums are held quarterly. They are a good place to express your opinion to your elected representatives.

Each group or individual is allocated 10 minutes for a presentation.

This presentation must be:

  • submitted seven working days before the date of the meeting
  • approved by the chairperson.

You can:

  • talk about issues facing you or your community group
  • give an update about your group's activities.

You can only have two presenters but you are welcome to have extra people attend in support.

The presentation is recorded on the public record in official minutes.

The board does not make any resolutions about funding decisions at community forum meetings.

When and where they are held

Community forums are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of every third month and are open to the public.

They start at 6pm and are held at various locations around the Kaipātiki Local Board area.

Check the Kaipātiki Local Board meetings calendar for more details.

Workshops

Local board workshops focus on overseeing and delivering projects in their work programme.

This includes topics like:

  • events
  • renewing assets across the local board area.

The local board does not make decisions at these workshops.

Workshops are open to the public to attend unless an item is confidential under the Section 7 (2) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

The public cannot speak or present at a workshop.

When and where they are held

Workshops are usually held on the first, second and fourth Wednesday of every month, and occasionally on the fifth Wednesday of the month.

They start at 10am and are held at:

Kaipātiki Local Board office, 90 Bentley Avenue, Glenfield
