Ōrākei Local Board meetings and workshops

Business meetings

The Ōrākei Local Board makes decisions at its monthly business meetings.

Members of the public can attend Ōrākei Local Board business meetings in person.

St Chads Church and Community Centre does not have the facilities to support online meetings.

When and where they are held

These meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month and are open to the public. They start at 3pm and are held at:

Speak at a business meeting

Member of the public can speak at local board business meetings through:

  • a public forum or
  • deputation

Public forum

Anyone can speak for up to three minutes during a public forum at a business meeting as long as the topic is related to the roles and responsibilities of the local board.

You do not need to give notice to speak during a public forum, but you must tell the democracy advisor that you intend to speak before the meeting starts.

Deputation

You can also speak at a business meeting for up to 10 minutes through a deputation. This is a formal presentation and needs approval from the chairperson.

Email orakeilocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz at least seven clear working days before the date of the meeting if you want to speak through a deputation

Workshops

At local board workshops, local board members discuss various projects and initiatives within their area. These workshops are used to:

  • discuss the progress of ongoing projects and initiatives
  • help local board members prepare for decisions about projects and initiatives
  • support discussions between:
  • consider and address any other issues or concerns.

Decisions are not made at these workshops. They are only for discussions and to help local board members prepare to make decisions.

Ōrākei Local Board workshops are not open to the public.
