Apply for the 2025 Artist in Residence

We have chosen the Artist in Residence for 2025. Applications for the 2026 residency will open in mid-December 2025.

Aim of the residency

The aim of the residency is to:

• support artistic endeavours in Auckland regional parks
• share the art created to highlight overlooked or undervalued aspects of the regional parks
• raise awareness of the regional parks as places of interest and inspiration.

We welcome applications from:

• photographers
• printmakers
• painters
• sculptors
• filmmakers
• installation artists
• composers
• writers
• poets
• choreographers
• and other creatives.

Eligibility for the residency

To be eligible, you must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

Residency location for 2025

In 2025, the residency is based at Barr Cottage, Huia in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park.

How to apply for the residency

We will provide the application forms for the 2026 residency when applications open in mid-December 2025.
