Consent application fee

The cost of putting in your residential or small heated pool will depend on the nature and value of your project. There are separate fees for resource and building consents.

Use our deposit calculator to find out.

If you are unsure if you need a building consent, resource consent or both, see Put in a swimming pool or large spa and Check if you need a consent to put in a residential pool or spa.

How to apply for a consent to put in a residential or small heated pool

Our tip

If your residential or small heated pool is close to a boundary, and you have the written approval from your neighbours, you can apply for a Deemed Permitted Boundary Activity.

This application replaces the need to apply for a resource consent.

You will still need to apply for a building consent, if required.

We only accept online applications for building consents and resource consents. If you are unable to apply digitally, visit one of our libraries with council services for assistance in making your online application.

See Ways to pay online for information on all payment options.
