COVID-19 Alert Level 2 – Building and consents information
Libraries with council services will reopen at Alert Level 2 with necessary health and safety measures in place, including physical distancing and use of the
NZ COVID Tracer app.
Building and resource consent applications remain digital only and will only be accepted via the council's website.
To ensure the safety of our staff and customers some of our services remain unavailable at Alert Level 2, including in-person pre-application meetings and drop-in consultations with staff.
Physical inspections and site visits have resumed, but only where appropriate health and safety measures, including social distancing, can be met and are adhered to.

We only accept online applications for major engineering approval. If you are unable to apply digitally, visit one of our libraries with council services for assistance in making your online application.

If there is no way to provide digital copies of your plans or documents, visit one of our libraries with council services. Our staff will accept your documents, but it may incur an
additional charge to cover the costs involved with us scanning your documents into our digital consent system.

At the end of the process, you may need to pay the maintenance bond.
What happens next
We aim to process engineering plan approvals within 20 working days. Approval takes longer when additional information is required.
