If you want to keep bees, you have to register your apiary with Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).
MPI aims to protect honey bees from exotic pests and diseases.

How to register an apiary
American Foulbrood Disease (AFB) processes registrations of apiaries.
You can register your apiary on the AFB website.
Once you register, you have to keep your registration number visible at each apiary you own (usually on a hive).
