What having a permit means

Having a permit does not always guarantee you exclusive use of an area. Other park users may still have access to the area.

However, making a booking means there aren't any other events booked in the same area on the same day.

We will reserve the area for you. You must occupy the site by 9am on the day of the booking.

What events you will need a permit for

Weddings, if more than just a ceremony

If you plan to hold anything other than just a wedding ceremony in a regional park you will need a permit.

Taking photos for commercial use

If you are taking photos for commercial use, you will need a permit.

You should also contact Screen Auckland to check if you also need a photography or filming permit.

Marquees, caterers, alcohol, or amplified sound devices

If you are bringing marquees, caterers, alcohol, or an amplified sound device to your event, you will need a permit.

If your marquee is larger than 100 square metres, you will also need to apply for a building consent.

We assess whether you need a permit on a number of factors, including:

• the date of your event or wedding
• the number of people attending
• the capacity of the park
• the location of the site within the park
• the potential impact on other park users
• the potential impact on the park itself.
