About the path

An easy, flat stroll along the edge of Te Huruhi Bay. Walk from the swings at Blackpool Beach to the playground at Surfdale via a safe waterfront route. Great for the whole family, and a nice place for kids to ride a bike.

There is very little traffic on the shared gravel road. Fishing, clambering the rocks, and bird watching are options too.

At Blackpool, the area east of Moa Avenue is an off-leash dog exercise area. The part west of Moa Avenue is for the birds. You must keep your dog on the leash here.

Start at the bottom of Moa Avenue, by the swings. Follow the gravel Esplanade route along the beach and around the headland until you reach Surfdale Beach.

Enter Surfdale Hall Reserve and Foreshore by the public toilets, and check out the playground, barbecue and the beach.

Surfdale Beach is popular with kite surfers when the south westerlies are blowing, so this is a great spot to watch the action. Relax in the shade of the giant macrocarpa before returning to Blackpool.

Surfdale is approx 200m away from the playground, and has cafes and shops.

This is a very easy and flat stroll for the whole family.
