About the path

A scenic walk along the stunning Te Atatū Peninsula coastline, with great views over the Waitematā Harbour.

Start at the Harbourview - Orangihina car park and head south, following the path through the reserve.

There are some great picnic spots along the way with views across the harbour, to Pollen and Rangitoto islands.

The path is sealed and on a gentle incline. It is suitable for prams and kids scooters.

If you wish to extend your walk you can also follow the Harbourview - Orangihina Reserve which is the second largest natural wetland remaining in west Auckland. It comprises freshwater swamp, estuarine saltmarsh and mangroves. Local community volunteers play a vital role in protecting native plants and animals living within the wetland.

The reserve is home to a significant range of native plant and animal species. Look out for copper skink, common copper butterfly, pūkeko, New Zealand dotterel, North Island fernbird, nursery web spider and banded rail.
