About the path

Get active by walking or jogging this scenic loop through Moire Park and local reserves in West Harbour.

Start in Moire Park - one of Waitākeres hidden treasures. A major centre for sport in Waitākere, Moire Park offers a playground for all ages, outdoor basketball court and grass pump track for adventurous cyclists. Trees offer natural shade, and the Liquidambar trees that surround the sports fields provide a spectacular display in autumn.

Follow the gravel track through the park and into the bush. Wind your way through the native bush tracks then turn left at the junction and walk towards Moire Road.

Turn right and follow the footpath along Moire Road, then turn right into the path connecting to Brougham Place. Continue through to Rena Place and then onto West Harbour Drive.

Turn left to enter Pahi Park, where you can enjoy elevated views of the Waitematā Harbour, Harbour Bridge, Sky Tower and Auckland city skyline.

Continue until you reach Luckens Road, then turn right into Worthington Place. Connect back onto West Harbour Drive where you'll see a second children's playground across the street.

From here turn left, then take the next right to cross the bridge over Henderson Creek. Take the bridge across Manutewhau Stream, and return to the starting point via Moire Park.

The Moire Park area was settled in 1600 by Te Kawerau a Maki and ancestral links go back to the 14th century. The harbour and surrounding land were used for fishing, camping and collecting resources.
