We made the regional coastal plan fully operative in 2019. That plan sits within the Auckland Unitary Plan.

​Parts of the Auckland Unitary Plan are not yet operative

Some parts of the plan remain subject to Environment Court or High Court appeals. We annotated those parts of the plan to show they are still proposed, and subject to appeal.

What happens next

We update the Auckland Unitary Plan as appeals are resolved. We record each public notice and list of provisions made operative after 2016.

Once all appeals are resolved, we will notify the date on which the whole plan is fully operative.
