About the plan change
The Howick town centre is identified in the Auckland Unitary Plan as a Business special character area (Special Character Areas Overlay – Residential and Business).
The plan change aims to add a special character statement to Schedule 15 of the Auckland Unitary Plan. This is for the existing Howick Business special character area, which is the only special character area that does not have a special character statement.
Special character statements identify the special character values of special character areas and play an important role in implementing the overlay provisions in that area.
The plan change also proposes to add four new sites into the Howick Business special character area. This is because buildings on these sites contribute to the special character values of the area.
This proposed plan change does not apply to any residentially zoned sites in Howick.
