When we apply penalties

We apply the following penalties:

  • If you don't pay your rates instalment in full by the due date, we charge 10 per cent of any amount owing.
  • If you have unpaid rates and penalties at the end of the rating year, we charge a further 10 per cent on this outstanding amount.
  • We will apply a further 10 per cent penalty to any amounts still unpaid six months after the end of the rating year.

We don't charge GST on rates penalties.
