Auckland Transport Alignment Project

Planning, funding and developing Auckland’s transport system is one of central and local government’s biggest transport challenges. It is essential that transport solutions are tackled head on, in order to secure the success of the region, and of New Zealand as a whole.

The Auckland Transport Alignment Project is a joint project involving Auckland Council, the Ministry of Transport, Auckland Transport, the NZ Transport Agency, the Treasury and the State Services Commission. The project will identify a preferred approach for developing Auckland’s transport system over the next 30 years.

The project’s Terms of Reference were signed on 27 August 2015, and the Foundation Report was released on 19 February 2016. The project is expected to run for around a year.
