Withholding name and address

An owner whose information is included on the rating database may request that council withhold his or her name or postal address (or both) from the rating database (as per Section 28C of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002).

You may also decide to withhold just one of the above, i.e. you may request that your name be published and your postal address withheld, or the other way around.


Apply to withhold name and address details

Requests must be in writing but you are not required to provide reasons for the request. Please download the suppression of name and/or postal address information form (PDF 190KB), complete it and send the request to us at:

Or drop it in to your local customer service centres.

On receipt of your request, the council will:

  • remove the relevant details from the database
  • notify the owner who made the request of the removal of his or her details.

You may cancel this request at any time by written notice and we will then reinstate your information to the rating database as soon as possible.
