Papakura Parks Classifications: Reclassify reserves

Auckland Council notifies its intention to:

1. recommend the Minister of Conservation reclassify the reserve parcels described in Schedule One below pursuant to Section 24 of the Reserves Act 1977 (RA), and

2. to reclassify the reserve parcels described in Schedule Two by notice in the New Zealand Gazette pursuant to Section 24A of the RA. 

The reserve parcels described in the schedules below are proposed to be reclassified from their existing classification to ensure they reflect the primary purpose they are held for under the RA. The reasons for each proposal are included in each schedule.

These reclassifications relate to individual land parcels, which in many cases make up only a portion of a wider park area. Schedule One

Parcels to be reclassified scenic reserve section 19(1)(a), under section 24 of the RA

Reason for reclassification: The primary purpose of these parcels is for the protection and preservation of the natural features.

Parcels to be reclassified scenic reserve section 19(1)(b), under section 24 of the RA

Reason for reclassification: The primary purpose is for the protection and preservation of natural values.

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (accessway) reserve under Section 24 of the RA

Reason for reclassification:  The primary purpose of these parcels are provision of pedestrian access and pathway.

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (esplanade) reserve under Section 24 of the RA

Reason for reclassification:  The primary purpose is for the protection of conservation values, recreational uses and enabling public access to or along the estuary.

Parcels to be reclassified recreation reserve under Section 24 of the RA

Reason for reclassification: The primary purpose is for recreation and enjoyment of the public.

Schedule Two

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (amenity) reserve under Section 24A of the RA

Reason for reclassification: The primary purpose is the provision of public amenity.

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (esplanade) reserve under Section 24A of the RA

Reason for reclassification:  The primary purposes of these parcels are for the protection of conservation values, recreational uses and enabling public access to or along the estuary.

Submissions will be published in part or in full in public reports and any information provided to the Council becomes subject to the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and may be released by the Council under that Act.
