Auckland Council Rating Information Database

The Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 requires Auckland Council to prepare a rating information database, which must include the following information in relation to each rating unit within the Auckland Council district:

  1. All information relating to the rating unit that is included in the district valuation roll, and
  2. All information relating to the unit that is required for setting and assessing rates for each rating unit.

Notice is given under section 28(4) of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 that the Auckland Council rating information database is now available for inspection during opening hours at:

  • Central City Library and council services – 44-46 Lorne Street, Auckland CBD
  • Great Barrier Library and council services – 75 Hector Sanderson Road, Claris, Great Barrier Island
  • Helensville Library and council services – 49 Commercial Road, Helensville
  • Kumeū Library and council services – 296 Main Road, Huapai
  • Manukau Library and council services – 3 Osterley Way, Manukau
  • Ōrewa Library and council services – 40-46 Ōrewa Square, Ōrewa Community Centre
  • Pukekohe Library and council services – 12 Massey Avenue, Pukekohe
  • Sir Edmund Hillary Library and council services – Level 1, 209 Great South Road, Papakura
  • Takapuna Library and council services – 9 The Strand, Takapuna
  • Te Manawa – 11 Kohuhu Lane, Massey
  • Waiheke Library and council services – 131-133 Ocean View Road, Oneroa, Waiheke Island
  • Waitākere Central Library and council services – 3 Ratanui Street, Henderson
  • Warkworth Library and council services – 1 Baxter Street, Warkworth.

The rating information database is also available for inspection at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.

Any ratepayer may object to the information contained in the database on one or more of the following grounds:

  • That a rating unit included in the district valuation roll has been omitted from the database
  • That information included in the district valuation roll has been omitted from, or inaccurately entered in, the database
  • That information included in the database, other than information entered from the district valuation roll, is incorrect
  • That there has been a failure to enter a lawful amendment to the district valuation roll into the database.

Objections can be made online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz – enter ‘RID rates objection form’ into the search box.

Notice is also given under section 28B of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 that every owner in the Auckland Council rating information database has the right under section 28C of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 to request Auckland Council to withhold his or her name or postal address (or both) from the database.

Requests to withhold name and/or postal address from the Auckland Council rating information database can be made online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz – enter ‘Withhold name and address form’ into the search box.
