Jubilee Bridge, which crosses over Panmure Basin, connecting Watene Road and Lagoon Drive, is currently closed.
What the project is about
Jubilee Bridge is a 60-metre pedestrian bridge crossing Panmure Basin from Lagoon Drive.
Built in 1984, the bridge is now closed due to safety issues. Repairs and efforts to prolong the life of the bridge are no longer feasible or cost-effective.
A replacement bridge will be funded under our 10-year Budget 2021-2031.
The new three-metre-wide steel arch bridge is already designed and has resource consent.

Project timeline
We intend to have a contractor in place by the end of 2023. This is when our construction methods and timelines will be agreed on.
We expect to start demolishing the existing bridge in 2024 and aim to complete the new bridge in 2025.
