Mutukāroa (Hamlins Hill) Management Trust was set up in 1996 and established Mutukāroa / Hamlins Hill and surrounding land as a regional park.
The trustees, who are mana whenua Hapū and iwi with ancestral relationships to certain areas in Tāmaki Makaurau where they exercise customary authority. and council members, help to support, protect and enhance Mutukāroa / Hamlins Hill Regional Park. They do this by:
Of the six trustees, three are from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust Board, Ngāti Paoa Trust Board and Waikato Tainui Kauhanganui Incorporated. A further three are from Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board.
