About the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Rangatahi Youth Leadership Fund

We provide funds to help young people in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki connect, thrive and achieve their aspirations.

If you are aged between 14 and 24 years old, you can apply for a grant for youth or leadership development.

Types of projects funded by the grant

Community.

Grant value

$500 - $5000

Outcomes

Funds must be used for:

activities, events, projects or programmes which are youth-led (initiated, designed, and led by young people)
developing rangatahi (youth) leadership such as taking part in a leadership development course or activity.

Funding priorities

We encourage applications from rangatahi seeking support to:

run events or programmes to cater for community interest and need
achieve good health and well-being
access learning and development opportunities to build leadership experience within their community
develop social enterprise projects.

You can apply for funding for a project or activity once in each financial year.

Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the grant, you must:

be aged between 14 and 24 years old
live in the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board area
be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
include a letter from your school principal, teacher, tutor, community leader or employer in support of your application.

Accountability measures

If your application is successful you must:

be available to work with Auckland Council staff on media coverage
provide at least one photo of the event or activity
include the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board logo and the words 'funded by / part funded by Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board' on your publicity and promotional material.

You must also submit an accountability report at the end of your project or activity. This can be written or given verbally at a Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board business meeting.

This report is required to show us how you used the grant. We will not give any future funding to applicants who do not complete this report.
