About the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Strategic Partnership Grants

Note: We are not running any grant rounds in the 2025/2026 financial year.

This grant will support local community groups and organisations to:

build capacity and capability
upskill staff and volunteers
become more sustainable and able to attract diverse funding opportunities.

The key goals of the fund are to:

promote partnerships
increase sustainability
support organisations to connect with each other and other funders
unlock further resources.

Funding priorities

We welcome applications where the strengthening of your group or organisation would help you to:

activate and strengthen neighbourhood connections, particularly in areas where this is lacking
encourage and support all community members to lead and get involved in activities using their diverse talents, insights and contributions to enable communities to achieve their goals
improve young people's sense of connection and wellbeing so that they are engaged in the community and have access to a wide range of opportunities
provide opportunities that support youth employment initiatives by working with local businesses, youth providers, community mentors and groups
activate social enterprise through coaching and providing innovative programmes and initiatives
serve local Māori communities.

Funding amount available

Funding ranges from $10,000 to $30,000 each year.

You can receive this funding each year for up to three years and up to a total of $60,000 inclusive.

Who can apply

The local board aims to support:

local community groups and social enterprises, but not those with profit-focused business interests
local organisations like schools, but not institutions or government agencies.

Applicants must be financially stable. This means they must be able to show evidence of good financial management and organisational practices including:

clear and detailed planning
clear reporting processes.
