Before you apply for a new alcohol licence, you will need an alcohol licensing building and planning certificate.
If you have questions, contact your local building or planning helpdesk on 09 301 0101.
To support your building and planning certificate application, supply two copies of:
| Description | Fee |
|---|---|
| Alcohol licensing building and planning certificate base fee (not refundable, additional charges may apply) | $1,157 |
If you are applying for an off-licence, you should first check that your business complies with the Local Alcohol Policy.
There is a temporary freeze on new off-licences in the city centre and 23 other priority overlay areas. We may also decline applications for new off-licences in neighbourhood centres. This does not apply to remote (online) sales premises.
Visit Information on Local Alcohol Policy changes for licence holders to check if your licence application is affected.
We only accept online applications for this certificate. You can visit one of our libraries with council services if you need help applying online.
Visit Ways to pay online for information on all payment options.
Call us on 09 301 0101 to speak with our building and planning help desk if you have questions about your application.
We will process your application within 20 working days.
This will take longer if we need more information from you.
