Ngāti Pāoa Treaty settlement

After 15 years in motion, the Ngāti Pāoa Treaty settlement came into effect on Wednesday 4 March 2026. This marks a significant milestone for the Tāmaki and Hauraki iwi and for Tāmaki Makaurau as a whole.

The settlement includes the return of part of this culturally significant site (now returned to Te Iwi Rahirahi) from the Crown.
