The Future Development Strategy (FDS) is Auckland’s long-term approach to growth and development. It sets out how Auckland will grow and change over the next 30 years.
Auckland’s population will grow and change significantly over the next 30 years. It is expected to reach 2,230,800 by 2053. We will be even more multicultural and our households are expected to be older and smaller.
We need to plan for our growing population and make sure we meet future needs for housing, jobs and the environment, while also addressing climate challenges.
