Changing facilities, storage of staff personal items and cleaning items at food business sites

Food business sites must have adequate storage for cleaning materials and staff personal items that cannot be taken into work areas.

Storage of staff personal items

Facilities for storing clothing and personal belonging of staff can be:

  • a changing room
  • lockers or cupboards in a change room
  • enclosed cupboards dedicated for the storage of clothing and personal belongings, located outside of the food preparation, food processing, food storage and utensil washing areas.

Storage of chemicals

Store chemicals, cleaning equipment, pest control chemicals and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Chemicals should be kept in a way that does not adversely affect the safety or suitability of food.
