Auckland Council has some responsibility to manage noise from helicopters, mostly when they are taking off or landing.
Once in the air, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is responsible for noise from helicopters.
We do not manage noise complaints that relate to emergency service aircraft such as Police and Westpac Rescue helicopters.
You can make a complaint to NZ Police or the National Emergency Management Agency about the actions of these aircraft.
Visit the CAA website for more information about aircraft noise.
Helicopters are used to monitor frost at some vineyards from September to early December.
Visit Helicopter frost protection for the health and safety responsibilities of winegrowers and pilots who use helicopters for frost protection.
If there is an urgent threat to public safety, call NZ Police on 111.
