About Newmarket Park

Newmarket Park is the biggest park in the Newmarket area. It has large open grass spaces, is surrounded by bush and is free from paths and infrastructure.

The park is home to or visited by a variety of bird species including kotare (kingfisher), pihipihi (waxeye), tīwaiwaka (fantail), tūī, pūkeko, ducks and more.

Footpath connections link to Newmarket via Cowie Street and Ayr Street. Tracks continue through to Endeavour Park where you can enjoy boardwalks and bush.

Access the car park from Ayr Street. Pedestrians can also access from Basset Road and through Endeavour Park.

A playground, toilets, car park, picnic tables and seating, and drinking fountains are inside the park.

Follow the 2.5km Newmarket to Thomas Bloodworth Path.

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.
