About the zoo
Auckland Zoo was opened in December 1922 and is located on 40 acres of land on Motions Road, next to Western Springs Reserve. It is New Zealand's largest zoo and features more than 120 different native and exotic animal species.
There are two large car parks providing free off-street parking for cars, charter buses and tour coaches. Accessible car parking is available in the car park closest to the main entrance for vehicles displaying a current mobility parking permit.
Auckland Zoo is part of Regional Facilities Auckland, a council-controlled organisation run by Auckland Council.
9.30am to 5pm every day except Christmas Day.
