You need to know

How can you help keep our parks and islands pest free

Whakanewha Regional Park is pest-free and we need your help to protect its pristine environment.

Before your stay:

  • Check your gear and footwear for stowaway pests - rats and mice, plague skinks, and Argentine ants.
  • Clean your gear and footwear to remove soil and seeds. This will help prevent the spread of weeds and plant diseases such as Kauri dieback.
  • Seal your food in containers.
