Transport projects between Auckland Airport and Botany

The Auckland Airport to Botany Bus Rapid Transit Project is now underway in south-east Auckland.

Airport to Botany Bus Rapid Transit Project

In December 2022, Auckland Transport and Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency lodged Notices of Requirement to Auckland Council to protect routes marked out for a dedicated bus rapid transit corridor and high-quality walking and cycling facilities between Botany and Auckland International Airport.

Notices of Requirements lodged for the airport to Botany Bus Rapid Transit Project

Bus Rapid Transit – State Highway (SH) 20/20B Interchange to Orrs Road: Widen Puhinui Road between the SH20/20B Interchange and Orrs Road to provide for a bus rapid transit corridor and walking and cycling facilities.

Bus Rapid Transit – Rongomai Park to Puhinui Station (in the vicinity of Plunket Avenue): Widen a number of existing roads to provide for a bus rapid transit corridor and walking and cycling facilities.

Bus Rapid Transit – Puhinui Station (in the vicinity of Plunket Avenue) to State Highway (SH)20/20B Interchange: Widen the existing Puhinui Road between Plunket Avenue and east of the SH20/SH20B Interchange to provide for a bus rapid transit corridor and walking and cycling facilities.

Bus Rapid Transit – Botany to Rongomai Park: Widen Te Irirangi Drive between Botany and Rongomai Park to provide for a bus rapid transit corridor and walking and cycling facilities.

Alteration to Designation 6717 (State Highway (SH)20B – State Highway (SH)20 to Auckland International Airport): Alter designation 6717 (SH20B/SH20 to Auckland International Airport). The alteration is from the SH20/SH20B Interchange to Manukau Memorial Gardens.
