What to do if there's a problem with your food scraps bin or collection

Food scraps bin is damaged or is stolen

Use Request bin repair or report a missing bin online form if your food scraps bin is damaged or stolen.

You should know

We're working to enable online food scraps bin requests in other areas and this should be available by early May.

Food scraps bin not collected after 5pm

First, make sure that you aren't putting your bin out before collections have started in your area.

Check rollout schedule

You must place your food scraps bin on the kerb by 7am (or earlier if an authorised early start applies to your area) to ensure you don't miss the collection.

If your bin is out at the correct time but still is not collected after 5pm, check your bin to see if there is a red notice attached. A red notice means your bin contained too many of the wrong items for us to collect.

Check the notice on your bin lid for more information about what can and can't be accepted or see how to use your food scraps bin.

If your bin is out on time, you don't receive a red notice and it is not collected after 5pm, call us on 09 301 0101.
