Book a waste minimisation learning session

Tono wāhanga ako mahi whakaiti tukunga para

There are currently three waste minimisation centres in Auckland offering free sessions where you can learn how to minimise your waste.

Zero Waste Zone

The Zero Waste Zone is a fun, hands-on learning centre located at the Waitākere Refuse Transfer Station, Henderson.

The Zone's surrounding garden showcases creative upcycling and features a 'Make Space' workshop and a discovery trail made entirely of waste.

Zero waste programme

This programme looks at waste, where it goes and how to reduce it. Students learn about worms and why food waste is an important resource. Activities include: sorting waste, learning about recycling and how to make good choices to look after the environment.

There is also a transfer station tour where students can see the volume and types of waste dropped off at the site.

Make Space programme

Rethink waste as a resource - and not rubbish - by upcycling and making old objects into something new and useful.

The Make Space programme looks at how resource recovery is a practical and fun way to divert waste from the landfill.
