Elections
The 2010 local government elections for the Auckland Council have resulted in a new and different governance structure for the region.
One unitary council, one mayor, 20 councillors representing 13 wards, 149 local board members representing 21 local board areas: these representatives who were voted in on 9 October will take up their roles from 1 November.
In addition to these inaugural elections for Auckland Council, representatives have also been voted into roles on Auckland’s three district health boards and the region’s licensing trusts.
