Waste Management and Minimisation Plan
Let's get our rubbish sorted
Auckland Council has developed the first Auckland-wide draft plan to deal with waste in Auckland and to provide consistent services across the region, meet government regulations and manage costs.
To help us succeed, we need to:
- deliver waste services more efficiently
- find better ways to recover and re-use resources, and
- send less waste to landfill.
Auckland Council is proposing a range of streamlined services and new initiatives to meet these objectives.
From 17 November 2011 until 31 January 2012 we collected Aucklanders opinions on the draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP). Submissions have now closed.
The council will listen to what people had to say and decide what changes will be made to the plan before it is adopted in May/June 2012.
You can also join in the conversation about waste management on our Facebook page.
Once the WMMP is adopted, we will work with you and your community to ensure you know what these changes entail. We will develop an extensive community educational programme to guide the lead up to and implementation starting in 2015.
