About the Sport and Recreation Facilities Operating Grant

This grant aims to support regional and sub-regional non-council operated facilities to increase Aucklanders' participation in sport and recreation.

Outcomes

This grant is for applications that:

help facilities provide easy and affordable access to informal physical activity, recreation and sport
ensure our diverse communities enjoy healthy and active lifestyles
allow facilities to sustain and improve their ongoing operations.

Funding priorities

We welcome grant applications that align to our priorities:

Communities of greatest need
Strong benefit to Māori
Communities with low participation in sport and recreation
High participation
Partnerships
Regional or sub-regional facilities
Sustainable and low impact facilities
Strong strategic alignment
Significant network shortfall
Comprehensive facility and asset management plan.

Grants apply for up to three years. The next funding round is due to open in early 2027.
