Weiti Estuary to Devonport Shoreline Adaptation Plan (SAP) considers the future of council-owned land and assets across the region's coastal areas in response to the impacts of coastal processes, climate change, erosion and flooding.

About Weiti Estuary to Devonport SAP 

The Policy and Planning Committee approved the Weiti Estuary to Devonport Peninsula SAP on 24 July 2025.

This SAP covers the area from the Weiti Estuary through to Devonport Peninsula, including but not limited to: 

• Stanley Point
• Bayswater
• Belmont
• Hauraki
• Takapuna
• Milford
• Forrest Hill
• Crown Hill
• Campbells Bay
• Mairangi Bay
• Murrays Bay
• Rothesay Bay
• Browns Bay
• Waiake
• Torbay
• Long Bay
• Okura
• Devonport
• Redvale
• Silverdale.

Stages of Weiti Estuary to Devonport SAP 

• 24 July 2025 - plan approved by the Policy and Planning Committee.
• June 2025 - plan endorsed by the Devonport-Takapuna and Hibiscus and Bays local boards
• October 2024 to June 2025 – feedback reviewed, final plan drafted and developed
• 2 August to 26 September 2024 - plan opened for public consultation (community feedback).
• June 2024 and ongoing - local iwi engagement.
