Direct debit payments take up to three days to be set up. If your rates are due soon, use an alternative payment method.
If you own more than one property, you can set up a direct debit for all of them using myAUCKLAND.
You can do it online with myAUCKLAND. If you do not have an account, you can:
Pay by Visa or MasterCard (1.75 per cent payment fee). Allow enough time for your payment to get to us by the due date to avoid a late payment penalty.
To pay through Account2Account, allow two working days for your payment to process. Check your bank's terms and conditions before using this option.

If you pay by internet banking on the due date, we will treat the payment as received on time.
Internet banking cannot be used for a lump sum payment across multiple properties. Use myAUCKLAND instead or make a separate payment for each property.
For automatic payments, make sure your full instalment is received by the due date. If the full amount does not come through on time, penalties apply.
Online EFTPOS is unavailable until mid-2026 due to system upgrades.
Pay by Eftpos, MasterCard, Visa or American Express (0.67 per cent payment fee for credit cards) at one of our libraries with council services.
You can also pay by cash or Eftpos at any PostShop. You must bring your rates bill with you.
Contact your bank to set up telephone banking. If you pay by telephone banking on the due date, we will treat the payment as received on time.
Pay the full year before the first instalment (with no overdue balance) to receive a 1.31 per cent discount for 2025/2026.
If you do not pay your rates instalment in full by the due date, we charge a 10 per cent penalty on any amount owing.
