About the path

Lace up your walking shoes and explore the bush haven of Centennial Park on Auckland's North Shore. This loop walk is a combination of mainly gravel and bush tracks.

Start at the park entrance on Beach Road and head down Morton Way. Take the track on the left (off Morton Way) to reach the Avenue of Remembrance.

Walk along the Avenue of Remembrance, under a canopy of grand pōhutukawa trees planted to mark New Zealand's 1940 centennial celebrations.

There's a great lookout point with seating, and views out to Campbells Bay and the Hauraki Gulf.

Continue on the grass track to Morton Way and follow the path as it heads back into the bush. Weave your way through the regenerating bush - you'll be walking among fern, nīkau, pine and other native trees.

Continue until you reach the Magnolia Track, a gentle downhill pathway which will take you back to the starting point.

Work to restore Centennial Park’s native forest is carried out by the Centennial Park Bush Society. Volunteers remove invasive weeds, grow native plants, trap animal pests and maintain tracks.

Wear good shoes for the walk, as some sections (especially the Avenue of Remembrance) can be muddy and slippery.

Dogs must be on a leash in Centennial Park.

The nearest public toilets are at Campbells Bay Beach or Kennedy Park.
