Area and centre plans provide a long-term (20-30 year) vision for your local area. Centre plans cover a smaller geographic area.

Purpose of area and centre plans

  • timing of development projects and infrastructure needs
  • how we use land to live, work and play
  • town centres function, size and role
  • key transport routes and improvements
  • heritage, landscape, landmarks and natural features
  • social and cultural facilities
  • public open space
  • local business and employment opportunities
