A 30-year plan for Sunnynook, Totara Vale and Forrest Hill.

About the Sunnynook Plan

The Sunnynook Plan has been developed by the Kaipātiki Local Board and Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

This plan covers Sunnynook, Tōtara Vale and Forrest Hill and its development over the next 30 years.

The vision is to create an attractive, connected, walkable, social and liveable neighbourhood for diverse cultures and ages.

The outcomes and actions in the plan will help us achieve this vision.

Progress on delivering the Sunnynook Plan

Since the Sunnynook Plan was adopted in September 2018 significant progress has been made on these actions:

  • Implementation of the new bus network for the North Shore.
  • A service assessment underway for the Sunnynook wheeled sports facility, shifting to the detailed design phase in July 2019.
  • Pedestrian crossings and road safety improvements, in particular along Sunnynook Road.
  • Sunnynook Park Upgrade which is due for completion in October 2019.
  • New civic space next to the Sunnynook Community Centre which is in the detailed design phase.

We are working on a number of other actions such as:

  • Project delivery of the Sunnynook wheeled sports facility and the new civic space next to the Sunnynook Community Centre.
  • Incorporation of Te Aranga Maori Design Principles and mana whenua narratives where possible.
  • Continue working with the local community and mana whenua to restore natural environments and enhance the native biodiversity in the area.
  • Investigate opportunities for a dog exercise park in the plan area.
