We have specific legislative responsibilities to Māori across many of our functions. Te Waka Anga Mua ki Uta Maori Strategy and Relations Department advises us on these responsibilities.
The Independent Māori Statutory Board advises us on matters of significance to mana whenua and mataawaka of Tamaki Makaurau and of its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi / The Treaty of Waitangi.
Mana whenua co-govern a number of sites with us. These arrangements have been put in place through legislation implementing settlements for breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi / The Treaty of Waitangi.
