About the by-election
This by-election followed the resignation of board member Benjamin Lee.
The voting period for the Albert-Eden Local Board (Maungawhau subdivision) by-election 2021 closed at 12 noon on Friday 21 May.
C&R candidate Will McKenzie has been successfully elected with 2,768 votes.

Final results are as follows and will be officially declared in a public notice in the NZ Herald on Tuesday 25 May 2021.

COVID-19 Alert Level changes
Auckland is in COVID-19 Alert Level 3 from Sunday 28 February 2021.
Nominations for the Albert-Eden Local Board (Maungawhau subdivision) by-election will remain open until 12 noon on Thursday 25 March 2021.
Libraries are closed during Alert Level 3 but you can download the nomination paper and post it to the Electoral officer. For more information, see How to become a candidate.
Significant restrictions will be imposed during Alert Level 3 on candidates for campaigning. The candidates will have to follow Ministry of Health guidelines on social distancing and public safety.
This will impact the candidates' ability to complete some functions of a normal campaign, such as public meetings, door-to-door campaigns and in-person meetings.

Nominations if COVID 19 alert levels change
COVID 19 alert level changes to level 3 or 4 can prevent your nomination to be received in person, you can then:
- download the nomination paper from How to become a candidate
- email the completed form to the Electoral Officer with all required documents
- pay the nomination deposit fee electronically.
