About Ōmana Regional Park

Ōmana Regional Park - Aerial view looking towards Te Puru Park and Beachlands.

Situated on a gently contoured knoll from which visitors can enjoy outstanding views of the inner Hauraki Gulf. An ideal family park with a shelly beach offering safe swimming at high tide, shady pōhutukawa, walks to farmland and an intriguing pā site.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all Auckland Council regional parks' bookable sites and accommodation. The exception is registered aid dogs. You will need to advise our staff at time of booking if you have a registered aid dog for an exemption.
Dogs are allowed in regional parks only as stated in the dog walking section. All other animals are prohibited at all times, unless you have a permit issued by Auckland Council.

Alcohol

Visible and excessive consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
We may ask you and your group to leave the park and terminate your permit.

Smokefree regional parks

Our regional parks are smoke-free.
Please observe this while staying on or using our regional parks.

Waste

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light a fire outside in all public areas in the Auckland region.

Pedestrian access

6am to 7pm (Non-daylight saving)

Vehicle access

An automatic gate is located at the park entrance. No access after closing hours. It will open at any time for vehicles exiting the park.

Limited mobility parking

There are two designated car parks below the main toilet block.

Parking

25 spaces at the main parking area, about 200m from entrance, near the park office. Another 8 parks near playground.

BBQs

Seven gas BBQs with electric starts - free to use on a first come first served basis. Three of the BBQs are within bookable sites and are only available if the sites are not booked.

Beach

There is access down to the beach at the entrance to the park. The rest of the park is up on cliff tops.

The nearest boat ramp is at Omana Esplanade in Maraetai.

Perimeter Walk

60 minutes, 2.5 km
Suitable for prams. No wheelchair access. Check if Perimeter Walk is open.

Omana Farm Walk

Short walk suitable for prams. No wheelchair access. Check if Omana Farm Walk is open.

Activities at Ōmana Regional Park

Weddings

You may need a permit to hold a wedding or civil union ceremony at this regional park. See Apply for a permit to have an event or wedding in a regional park for more information, or call 09 301 0101 and ask to speak to a Senior Park Ranger.

Orienteering

There are 24 markers around the park, including an example marker by the noticeboard. See Orienteering to get copies of the maps. Also available from the noticeboard.
