This grassed campground is located by the calm waters of Mita Bay and surrounded by regenerating native bush.
Overland access to Mita Bay campground is closed until further notice due to a slip and damage to facilities following recent heavy rain.
Vehicle access to Mahurangi West Regional Park is closed to the public due to a slip on Mahurangi West Road. You can only access the park by boat.

Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
From the Sullivans Bay car park, join the Tungutu Loop Track (orange markers) and walk north up the hill to Tungutu Point. Join the Mita Bay Loop Track (dark blue markers) and walk down the hill into the campground. This route is approximately 1km (30 to 45 minutes).
From the Sullivans Bay car park, walk north along the coast. This route is approximately 800m (20 to 30 minutes).

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for campgrounds. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.
From 17 December to 31 January: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 people.
From 1 February to 16 December: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 20 people.

Drinking water is from a treated bore supply and is safe to drink. Taps are located around the campground.
No power supply.
Two toilets on site.
Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times.
Your campsite must be clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.
Rubbish disposal facilities are available at the campground. Please take your recycling with you when you leave.
You may stay in tents only and you may not camp on the foreshore.
