The council's Governing Body adopted the Long-term Plan 2024-2034 (LTP) on 27 June 2024.

The Governing Body adopted the final Mayoral Proposal for the LTP on 16 May 2024.
Advice from Auckland Council and council-controlled organisations supported the development of the Mayoral Proposal.
This advice is captured in the 'Staff Advice to support the Mayoral Proposal' document. This document provides details about the options presented for the mayor to consider in his proposal.
A draft Mayoral Proposal was released on 1 December 2023. It outlined the mayor’s vision and the mayor and councillors' priorities for the LTP.
