An outdoor dining licence is a legal permit that allows cafes, restaurants and bars to use public spaces, such as footpaths, to place tables and chairs on to serve customers.
You will need an outdoor dining licence if you plan to have furniture or customers eating or drinking on the footpath or public space outside your cafe or restaurant. Check What is a public place?
If you are the new owner of a business holding a current outdoor dining licence, you will need to reapply and change the ownership details. You must tell us within 10 working days of the transfer of ownership.
