About the path

The Henderson Creek shared path links the Northwestern Cycleway and Henderson town centre.

It's a beautiful, winding stroll or ride through parks and along native plantings beside the stream.

Start at the entrance from the Northwestern Cycleway. Alternatively you can enter from Henderson Park in the south - take the train to Henderson Station (bikes can be carried at no extra cost) or find an on-road car park.

The signposted path is sealed and sometimes narrow with short steep parts. There are underpasses and crossings for most roads.

Henderson Creek was once a hive of activity for traders, vintners, farmers, orchardists and families.

Along or close by to the route are the historic arch in Swan Arch Park, Tui Glen Motor Camp (New Zealand's earliest motor camp), and remains of dams and mills (a legacy of Henderson's timber milling industry).

Tui Glen Reserve is a highlight of the route and well worth a visit. The treetop-themed playground is routinely rated as one of Auckland's best playgrounds and is often buzzing with kids. The playground features an eagle's nest swing, rope bridges, dual flying fox, climbing nets, tube slides and three large tree huts.

There’s plenty of space for other games at Tui Glen and the large trees surrounding the playground provide lots of shade for a picnic. With public toilets, a barbecue, drinking fountain and seating, your afternoon in the sun is sorted! Nearby is the West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre if you fancy taking a dip to cool down.

The path ends at the Corban Estate Arts Centre within the historic Corban Estate winery. Pop in for a visit, or connect to the nearby Opanuku Path and Opanuku Art Trail to keep exploring this unique part of Henderson.
