Commercial area rubbish service changes

If you are in a commercial area, your collection day may be changing.

What we are doing

The frequency of commercial area rubbish collections in Waitākere and the North Shore are reducing from three collections to one collection a week.

The collection time is also changing from night to day.

Make sure you put bins out the night before your collection day or before 6am.

These changes affect businesses in designated commercial areas. You would have received a flyer if you are affected.

How to find your new collection day

Your new rubbish collection day will be the same day you currently put out your recycling bin.

Visit Find your collection day to learn more.

When this will happen

These changes come into effect from 6 May 2024.

Why we are doing this

We are standardising waste services across the region, to provide a more climate-friendly service.

What to do with excess rubbish

Excess rubbish can be dropped off at a transfer station. Charges may apply.

Alternatively, use a private contractor to remove your extra rubbish.

How to request to opt-out

If you are the owner of a non-residential property, you can request to opt-out from council waste services. However, the waste management base fee will still apply.

Email us at ratesfunded@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz to request to opt-out.
